Here is how we do it — and whether it is right for you.
Types of Back Pain Treated at WellPhy Kozhikode :
Lower back pain : Pain in the lumbar region that worsens with sitting, standing, bending or lifting. The most common complaint treated at WellPhy Kozhikode. Caused by disc degeneration, facet joint problems, muscle imbalance or nerve compression — each requiring a different treatment approach. A proper diagnosis at WellPhy identifies which one is driving your pain.
Disc bulge and slipped disc : A bulging or herniated disc presses directly on nearby nerves — causing sharp pain, stiffness and often radiating symptoms into the legs. Most patients with disc bulge in Kozhikode are told surgery is their only option. At WellPhy, disc bulge is our most successfully treated condition. Most patients recover in 15–21 days through Robotic Spinal Decompression — without surgery.
Sciatica — shooting pain into the leg : shooting pain into the leg The burning, shooting or electric pain travelling from the lower back through the buttock and down the leg is sciatica. A nerve is being compressed. Medication manages the pain temporarily. WellPhy’s treatment removes the compression causing it. Sciatica responds very well to non-surgical treatment when started early.
Spondylosis — : stiffness and chronic back pain Age-related wear and degeneration of the lumbar spine causes progressive stiffness, chronic pain and reduced mobility. Spondylosis worsens without treatment. WellPhy’s rehabilitation programme significantly slows degeneration, reduces pain and restores comfortable movement.
Chronic lower back pain : Pain that has lasted months or years — often with multiple failed treatments behind it. Chronic back pain is the hardest to treat and the most important to treat correctly. Many of WellPhy’s 8,800+ patients came after years of unsuccessful treatment elsewhere. Most recovered fully. The cause exists. Finding it is what WellPhy does.
Nerve compression and radiating pain Back pain : that radiates into the legs, causes numbness in the feet or weakness in the legs indicates nerve involvement. This type of back pain requires treatment that addresses the nerve directly — not just the surrounding muscles. WellPhy’s Robotic Spinal Decompression relieves nerve compression precisely, without surgery.
Back Pain Symptoms :
Shooting or burning pain from your lower back down into your leg, buttock or foot :Some people describe it as electric shock pain. Others say it burns. Others feel it as a deep ache that runs from the lower back through the back of the thigh and sometimes all the way into the foot.
This is almost always sciatica — a nerve in the lower spine being compressed, usually by a disc. The pain you feel in your leg is that nerve firing under pressure.
Painkillers reduce the sensation temporarily. They do not remove the pressure causing it.
At WellPhy, Robotic Spinal Decompression (FDA & CE Approved) targets the compressed disc directly — relieving the nerve and stopping the pain at its actual source. Most sciatica patients at WellPhy Kozhikode see significant improvement within 7–14 days.
Tingling, numbness or weakness in the leg, foot or toes : Pins and needles that travel down the leg. Parts of the foot that feel numb or “asleep.” A leg that feels heavy or weak when walking.
These are nerve compression symptoms. A disc, bone spur or narrowed spinal canal is pressing on a nerve and disrupting the signal it sends to the leg and foot.
Tingling and numbness that is getting progressively worse needs urgent assessment. Left untreated, prolonged nerve compression causes lasting nerve damage.
WellPhy’s Robotic Decompression relieves the pressure on the nerve. RPMS therapy supports nerve recovery. Most patients with tingling and numbness report improvement within 2–3 weeks.
Morning stiffness — your back takes an hour to loosen up after getting out of bed : The first 30–60 minutes after waking are the worst. The back is stiff, movement is painful and restricted. It gradually loosens as the day goes on. By evening it is manageable — until the next morning.
This is typically lumbar spondylosis or facet joint degeneration. The joints of the spine stiffen during rest and need movement to lubricate. Over time, this pattern worsens progressively without proper treatment.
WellPhy’s combination of joint mobilisation, Class IV Laser Therapy and targeted exercises reduces joint inflammation, restores mobility and significantly cuts the morning stiffness period — usually within 2–3 weeks of treatment.
Back pain that is worse when sitting or driving : Pain that starts manageable in the morning but worsens after 30 minutes of sitting. Pain that flares after long drives. Pain that forces you to shift position constantly at your desk.
This pattern typically indicates disc-related back pain. Sitting compresses the spine and increases pressure on already-damaged discs. The pain is the disc signalling that it is under more load than it can handle.
WellPhy’s Robotic Spinal Decompression reduces the disc pressure causing this pattern. Postural correction and ergonomic guidance then prevents it from returning.
Back pain that wakes you up at night : Pain that gets worse when lying down. Pain that wakes you from sleep. Back pain that is consistently worse at night regardless of position.
Night pain that does not improve with position changes can indicate inflammatory back pain, infection or, in rare cases, more serious underlying conditions. It requires proper clinical assessment — not just pain management.
At WellPhy, every patient is assessed by a specialist before any treatment begins. If your night pain has an inflammatory or systemic cause, your doctor will identify and address it directly.
Upper back pain : between the shoulders, around the ribcage or into the neck aching or tension between the shoulder blades. Pain around the ribcage that worsens with breathing or twisting. Tightness and stiffness across the upper back that does not ease with rest or massage.
Upper back pain is most commonly driven by prolonged desk posture, cervical spine problems or thoracic facet joint dysfunction. It is also the most under-treated back pain because most clinics focus on the lumbar spine.
WellPhy treats the full spine — cervical, thoracic and lumbar — with targeted manual therapy, laser treatment and postural correction programmes that address the actual cause of upper back and neck-related pain.
